Porsche
964 Carrera RS
Polar Silver is not the colour that appears in every catalogue image or auction spotlight. It is quieter than that, and on the RS silhouette, with the ducktail, the lightweight bumpers, or the purposeful stance, that restraint reads as confidence rather than absence. The 964 Carrera RS never needed to announce itself.
The model was Porsche's answer to a question nobody knew they needed. In 1991, while the rest of the industry was adding comfort and complexity, Porsche went the other way; stripping weight, stiffening everything, and handing the driver a 260hp flat-six with nowhere to hide. Of the 2,980 built, most have been driven hard, modified, or lost to time, and finding one with a coherent, documented life is an occasion.
One Of One´s unit was delivered new in Italy in November 1991. It has lived quietly ever since, with a subtle 37,903 kilometres over 35 years, with an unbroken sequence of Porsche-authorised service stamps running from Arezzo to Milan to Belgium, and a tracked mileage record that leaves no gaps to wonder about.
