By the late 1980s, few automobiles carried the same aura of raw performance and technical mystique as Porsche’s 911 Turbo. Known internally as the Type 930, it had transformed from a homologation project conceived in the mid-1970s into an enduring symbol of the brand’s engineering audacity. When the final iteration arrived in 1989, identifiable by its long-awaited G50/50 five-speed manual gearbox, it represented the ultimate evolution of the original Turbo before the model’s transformation into the all-new 964 platform. Under its broad rear haunches lay the proven 3,299-cc flat-six engine, force-fed by a single KKK turbocharger to deliver 300 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. In period tests, the car sprinted from 0–100 km/h in just over five seconds, its acceleration matched by prodigious high-speed stability. Yet what truly set the ’89 Turbo apart was its transmission: the robust Getrag G50/50 five-speed, replacing the long-serving four-speed unit that had defined the model since 1975. This final refinement allowed the Turbo to reach its full dynamic potential, more tractable at lower speeds, yet devastatingly fast on open roads. Visually, the car remained unmistakable: its flared arches, whale-tail rear spoiler, and deep front valance combined functional aerodynamics with muscular presence. Inside, the cabin balanced pure sportiness with luxury, offering high-quality materials, climate control, leather upholstery, and the distinctive Porsche ergonomics that made every mile tactile and purposeful.

Beneath the engine lid sits the 3.3-litre turbocharged flat-six (M930/66), producing 300 PS and 430 Nm — figures Porsche standardised across both European and US markets for 1989, the first year the two were mechanically identical. The G50/50 transmission brought reinforced internals, a hydraulic clutch and closer ratios, turning the 930's famously demanding character into something markedly more usable without dulling any of its urgency. It is the configuration collectors now single out above every other 930 Turbo.

This example is among the most preserved to come to market. Showing just over 40,000 kilometres — the lowest-mileage 930 Turbo we had seen in a year — it retains matching numbers across chassis, engine and transmission, its original paint and original parts throughout, and an unbroken service book stamped by official Porsche centres from new. Three owners, accident-free, and specified from the factory with air conditioning, it was delivered new to the United States before entering one of Spain's most significant private collections. Assessed at Tier 1, "Near Perfect," on One Of One's condition index, it is the rare instance where the paperwork, the mileage and the metal all tell the same story.
